Field Exploration

GIICO
engineers, surveyors and geologists plan and implement geotechnical exploration for on-shore and marine projects.
Exploration techniques include engineering geological mapping, geophysical surveys, test drilling, standard and cone penetration testing, pressuremeter test, dilatometer test and selected tests based on the project requirements and the anticipated subsurface conditions.

GIICO is staffed and equipped for efficient operations over a wide range of difficult terrains and environmental conditions.

GIICO provides the necessary surveying and logistical support for conducting geotechnical exploration in remote locations, both onshore and offshore.

Subsurface exploration may involve engineering geological and seismological investigative techniques, extensive engineering geophysical surveys, various types of test drilling, field testing, and sampling methods to:

  • Establish seismological and geological conditions.

  • Detect geological hazards.

  • Explore and evaluate groundwater potential.

  • Investigate electrical, thermal and dynamic properties of soil and rock.

  • Prepare factual, interpretive and engineering analysis reports.

  • Define stratigraphy.

  • Obtain undisturbed soil, rock and groundwater specimens for visual examination and complete laboratory evaluation.

GIICO's exploration facilities include

  • Surveying equipment.

  • Geophysical equipment.

  • Truck and buggy-mounted testing, drilling and sampling rigs.

  • Groundwater testing and monitoring equipment.

  • SPT, CPT ,DCPT, SCPT, Pressuremeter and Dilatometer test equipment.

Laboratory Testing

We undertake laboratory testing for selected soil, ground water and rock specimens obtained from field investigation programs to measure pertinent static and dynamic engineering and physical characteristics as a basis for engineering studies.

Engineering Consultation

Data obtained through GIICO site exploration and laboratory programs are used to evaluate the effects of subsurface conditions on the design and construction of new facilities. Detailed soil and rock mechanics and hydrogeologic engineering studies are performed to determine the most cost-effective methods for site development, foundation support and related soil and material engineering aspects of construction. Our new computerized system provides our clients with studies based on the latest technologies in all relevant applications. We extensively employ advanced software, like PLAXIS and gINT in geotechnical analysis, design and in solving critical soil structural interaction problems and report presentation.
